Your first question is probably what is "Happy Hookers" ? Mine too....
I went to The River House to find out. It turns out Marion Barnett started this volunteer group 14 years ago. This creative group of approximately 14 ladies meet every Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30am - 11:00am, they knit and crochet everything from blankets, scarfs, fingerless gloves (so we can still use our smart phones!) and Minion hats (the cutest) to name a few of their items.

Items made is donated to local organizations like Wolfson's Children's Hospital, Flagler Hospital, Hospice, Nursing Homes and many more. Marian estimates that over 7000 articles have been donated over the years and 400 scarfs a year are donated to the homeless population.
This Thursday, December 3rd, the "Happy Hookers" will be at The River House "Christmas Extravaganza" from 11am to 7pm selling their creations. Money raised helps Happy Hookers support one person a month with Meals on Wheels from Council on Aging and just recently 100 pairs of socks were delivered to the Board of Education.

So if you'd like to help these ladies here's how........ They are constantly in need of yarn. If you used to, or know of someone who used to knit and wondered what to do with those bags of yarn, now you have somewhere they would be made into something useful to help others. You can drop off the yarn to "Happy Hookers" at Council on Aging any weekday between 9am and 5pm. Stop by Thursday and go shopping for some great Christmas gifts. SPREAD THE WORD. If you'd like to join "Happy Hookers" they said you're more than welcome and they'll even show you how to knit or crochet if you'd like.
I left The River House with a smile on my face and a great appreciation for all these ladies do. They truly are Happy!

September 6th, 2014 was the 449th aniversary celebration of the founding of St Augustine. This annual event takes place on the Mission Grounds near The Great Cross that was dedicated September 8, 1565 to "celebrate the 400th anniversary of the beginning of Christianity in this land and the founding of the City of St Augustine"
Each year the landing of Don Pedro Menendez of Aviles, Spain is reenacted, followed by a mass at the rustic altar
The event is always well attended and parking is limited, plan to arrive early the event starts at 10am and is over by Noon.
Where to start is the always the hardest thing to decide......
I wanted to start my blog to journal some of my photography. Some of you know me for one type of photography that I do. However I wanted to share the diversity of my photography. Perhaps you know someone who is looking for a photographer and only know of that one aspect of photography that you see me doing. I love to photograph and a new challenge is always exciting. It stretches me and we all need a good stretch from time to time. :-)
Watch this space for upcoming samples of what I do. I believe you can subscribe (at no charge) by clicking the orange RSS Feed button below. That way any new posts I make you will be notified via email.
I'm looking forward to sharing more of my work with you. Feel free to leave a comment.
